My love for people and my faith in their ability to make their lives amazing are the two main reasons that made me choose the field of psychology as a profession.
I received my first bachelor degree in Business administration from the University of Macedonia. Therefore, I worked for a number of years in the business field, both in multinational and in smaller businesses, as well.
My will and devotion in helping people live their best life possible have led me to participate in the Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, in the University of Sheffield.
My practicum took place in both the Counselling Center and the Career Counselling Office of the above university. My clients were not only students of the university but also externals who were going through their academic and professional options. The fact that I had the opportunity to associate with people from a variety of countries, benefitted me in understanding cultures and ways of thinking that are quite divergent from the Greek reality.
Moreover, I have worked in a neuropsychological clinic in the greater area of Thessaloniki, where I came across cases of schizophrenia, psychosis and alcoholism. At the same time, I was cooperating with a cultural center in Kalamaria Thessaloniki, where I had one-to-one sessions as well as organized thematic support groups for the members of the center.
Nevertheless, my yearning for knowledge and progress does not end there. I decided to acquire a bachelor degree in Psychology (“BSc (Hons) in Psychology, Psychotherapy and Counselling”) from the University of Bolton and in the meantime I was being trained in Systemic Counselling and Psychotherapy. According to the systemic approach, every person is a part of different systems, such as the family, the school and the job that they have chosen, which affects them too. These influences affect the way a pesron thinks and acts. Thus, the person is called to become an observer of his life. But because I believe that every person is different and therefore has different needs, I also attended training in psychodynamic psychotherapy. This way I have managed to gain more knowledge in order to provide to my clients what they truly need.
Finally, my great love for children as well as the fact that with the right guidance they can achieve great things led me to train more in another field, Child Psychology, through another master’s degree. So, I managed to focus on topics such as behavioral disorders, learning disabilities, child abuse, bullying and parenting counseling.
